This monument of St. Gregory the Illuminator, blessed and inaugurated by Pope John Paul II in 2005, is located at St. Peter's Basilica, in Vatican City, Rome.
The inscription at the bottom reads, "S. Gregorius Armeniae Illuminator CCCI"
CCCI is the Roman numeral for 301, the year Armenia, as a nation, was converted to Christianity via the efforts and influence of St. Gregory the Illuminator, thus making Armenia the first Christian nation; the inventors and pioneers of Christendom.
