Armenia: A Nation of Ancient History and Discovery

Tracing its heritage back to the descendants of Noah, it makes sense that Armenia would produce ancient history and discoveries. The following are just a few examples:

Tracing the origin of their Christian community to the missionary efforts of the Apostles Bartholomew and Thaddeus, Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as its official religion in 301 AD, thus making the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church the world's oldest National Church.

In 2010, in less significant news, the world's oldest shoe, being 5,500 years old, was discovered in a cave in Armenia.

In even more recent news, there was yet another discovery from the caves of Armenia. The world's oldest winery was unearthed, showing that people have been distilling grapes into wine for more than 6000 years. Click here to watch a short video about this discovery.
